December 14, 2005New public member named to Red Deer College Board of Governors
Edmonton... Cal Dallas, the executive director of the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, is the newest public member named to the Board of Governors of Red Deer College. The three-year appointment is effective immediately, announced Advanced Education and Technology Minister Dave Hancock on December 14.
"Cal brings with him a wealth of experience in planning and management as well as a strong commitment to his community," said Hancock. "He has demonstrated enthusiasm and dedication to every project he has taken on, and I am sure he will be a committed board member at Red Deer College. The college is moving in an exciting direction, and the leadership provided by the board will help the college achieve its goals for the future."
In addition to his staff position with the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, Dallas has served in various volunteer positions on other boards, including the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and the United Way of Central Alberta. He has been actively involved with numerous organizations and committees in Red Deer and the surrounding area, and has received a number of awards recognizing his community service, including the Canadian Chamber of Commerce "Volunteer of the Year" award in 2002 and the "Queen's Jubilee Medal" in 2003.
Red Deer College offers full-time and part-time studies to more than 20,000 students from central Alberta and across Western Canada. In addition to a variety of credit learning opportunities, the college also offers a wide range of continuing education courses, programs and services.
