November 23, 2005New public member appointed to Medicine Hat College Board of Governors
Edmonton... Connie Knibbs is the newest public member to be appointed to the Medicine Hat College Board of Governors. Advanced Education and Technology Minister Dave Hancock announced Knibbs' appointment on November 23.
"Ms. Knibbs is a passionate and active member of her community, and Medicine Hat College will benefit greatly from her experiences and work on local and regional committees," said Hancock. "Medicine Hat College has been providing high quality post-secondary and lifelong learning opportunities to its students for many years. One of the themes I heard during the recent A Learning Alberta Minister's Forum is the need to increase opportunities for Advanced Education and Technology in rural communities, and the College's role in achieving this in southern Alberta will be vital as our government sets a new course for advanced learning in the province."
Ms. Knibbs has been involved in the learning system for twenty years through participation on various community organizations and committees. Most recently, she has taken on the role as preceptor, providing practical training to fourth year nursing students from the Medicine Hat College/University of Calgary Practical Nurse Program.
Medicine Hat College is a public, board governed college that has been serving students in southern Alberta for more than 40 years. In 2004-05, enrollment at the college continued to increase with more than 2,500 full-time students enrolled in credit courses and more than 11,000 students taking continuing studies courses.
