November 30, 2005NorQuest College's public board sees three new appointments
Edmonton... Three new public members, Linda Mabbott, Richard D. McCallum, and Cory D. Wosnack, were appointed to the Board of Governors for NorQuest College. The appointments were made November 30 by Advanced Education and Technology Minister Dave Hancock and become effective immediately.
"Linda, Richard, and Cory have each demonstrated strong community leadership and passion for post-secondary education, and I know they will do a great job in their positions as board members," said Hancock. "I look forward to working closely with them in the months ahead, especially with so many new initiatives happening at NorQuest as the college responds to the ever-changing needs of learners in Alberta. I would also like to thank Helen Calahasen for her past service to the board and wish her well in her future pursuits."
Linda Mabbott is a management professional with a wide range of experience within Edmonton as a project manager. She is also a former teacher with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. Her board experience is extensive as she has served on several other boards in the past.
Richard D. McCallum is an Edmontonian with over 40 years experience as a businessman in the printing industry and currently serves as McCallum Printing Group's Chief Executive Officer. He is well known for his commitment to community projects.
Cory D. Wosnack is a successful partner with Avison Young Commercial Real Estate in Edmonton. He has a marketing diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and has used his businesses skills in a volunteer capacity with several community organizations.
With an annual enrollment of over 10,000 students Edmonton-based NorQuest College offers programs such as academic upgrading, English language training, and career and skills programs. In addition, learners can access the college's programs through community learning sites in Drayton Valley, Edson, Hinton, Westlock, and Whitecourt or via the college's distance education technology.
