Enrolment Planning Envelope
The Enrolment Planning Envelope (EPE) is the Department of Advanced Education and Technology’s funding strategy aimed at increasing access to learning opportunities within Alberta’s advanced learning system. The goal is to develop the highly trained workforce needed to sustain Alberta’s economic growth now and into the future. Annual operation of the EPE is subject to the availability of funding.
Beginning with EPE 2008, allocation of funding through the Enrolment Planning Envelope occurs in the context of the Roles and Mandates Framework, and reflects programming priorities identified in the Alberta Access Planning Framework (AAPF).
The general objectives of the AAPF are to
- increase access to post-secondary learning opportunities
- increase long-term participation in post-secondary education
- align post-secondary system capacity with the needs of learners and the labour market
The EPE supported several initiatives in 2008. These include
-
specific program expansions in areas of high student and labour market demand, as identified in the AAPF
-
expansion of enrolment in graduate programs
-
initiatives designed to address the specific needs of under-represented groups and immigrants
-
collaborative program initiatives that address regional and provincial needs
-
initiatives consistent with other Government of Alberta policies and priorities
Post-secondary institutions in all six sectors identified in the Roles and Mandates Policy Framework are eligible for EPE grants.
The eCampusAlberta consortium is also eligible. For more information about eCampusAlberta, please visit Campus Alberta Collaboration and Partnerships.
