The Alberta Innovates Energy and Environment Solutions (EES) is one of the new Alberta Innovates agencies and acts as one of the Alberta Government’s primary industry and research collaboration organizations.  The organization will be a catalyst for innovation, well networked, and will increase accessibility and nurture partnerships.

Information and Communications Technology

The ICT Industries Branch works to strengthen Alberta’s ICT industry and increase technology commercialization in the province by: 

  • Supporting business and technology development in local technology companies by maintaining relationships with Alberta’s researchers and companies, and keeping updated on their needs and concerns
  • Facilitating research and development partnerships between industry, academia and government by supporting collaborative research conducted at Alberta’s universities
  • Attracting corporate investment by raising the profile of Alberta’s technology industry and the advantages of Alberta as a place to do business, through targeted participation in conferences, trade shows, and trade missions

Life Sciences

The Life Sciences Industries Branch (LSI) works to expand Alberta’s life sciences industry.  LSI contributes to the establishment and growth of small- and medium-sized life sciences companies in Alberta by: 

  • Supporting business and technology development in local technology companies by maintaining relationships with Alberta’s researchers and companies, and keeping updated on their needs and concerns
  • Facilitating research and development partnerships between industry, academia and government by supporting collaborative research conducted at Alberta’s universities

Nanotechnology

nanoAlberta is the Alberta government's team dedicated to putting the Alberta Nanotechnology Strategy into action by working with industry, researchers and investors to help build Alberta's nanotechnology industry and apply the benefits of nanotechnology in the energy, environment, medical, agriculture and forestry sectors.
